Beautiful logo with Bette Davis atop your blog. One forgets how underrated her appearance actually was. Interesting how the previews for "Kid Galahad" virtually ignore Bogart at this stage of his career. The last thing on the studio's mind was promoting him to leading man, until George Raft turned down a couple of key roles. By the way, there used to be a restaurant in Richmond, Virginia, named "Bogart's" in which the dishes on the menu were named after Bogart's movie characters. You can imagine the key ingredient of the "Turkey Morgan."
A pity TCM in the UK didn't take your advice not to mix this up with the Elvis movie. They advertised the Bogart film and I was excitedly waiting to watch and record it, only to discover that they were actually showing the Elvis one! I'm still waiting to see the Bogie and Bette film...!
Beware the people with the funny names. ;-P
ReplyDeleteOh dear: is my name funny to you guys? :-/
Turkey Morgan? Lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat screencaps. The last one is especially striking.
I haven't seen the point in boxing films after Kid Galahad and The Champ. I mean, they are two movies that can't be topped!
ReplyDeleteSomebody Up There Likes Me, Requiem For a Heavyweight, When We Were Kings, and lest we forget - Raging Bull.
