Norma Shearer Week
Sunday March 29th to Saturday April 4th
on Out of the Past ~ A Classic Film BlogTo celebrate my queen, for no reason other than I want to, I'm dedicating an entire week to her. Every day, I'll have a new post on Norma Shearer. It's all Norma, all week long!

Such adoration makes the Queen of MGM very happy...
Over the years that I have been watching Norma Shearer's films, it has been easier and easier to get access to them. Several films have become available on DVD and TCM has heard my pleas (along with everyone else's) for more Norma Shearer! I can't wait to see Riptide! I'll put it on my schedule :)
ReplyDeleteVery much looking forward to reading all of your posts this week!
As a huge Norma Shearer fan, tell me, how do you feel about the wig in Idiot's Delight? Love it or hate it?
Always happy to see a nod to some silents, & both "Lady of the Night" & "A Student Prince" are well worth watching (&, in my opinion, taping). Not familiar with the two from 1920 however.
ReplyDeleteAn amazing idea I look forward to!
ReplyDeleteShe was quite a looker, wasn't she! I have to agree with John Student Prince... is worth watching.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I wanted to complement you on the blog's new look, Raquel. Love the header pic and the new colour scheme!
Hail to the Queen!
ReplyDeleteImagine if she hadn't come down from Canada to participate in that diving contest, MGM would have been queeen-less... The horror!
Go Raquelle!
Can't wait! I haven't seen as much Norma as I'd like, so hopefully through "Week of the Queen", I'll get some Netflix ideas!
ReplyDeleteLove the new header. Ah, summer..
How exciting! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI like Idiot's Delight a lot. The scene w/ Clark Gable dancing is worth it's weight in gold. :)
Kate - Riptide is way out there, but still a joy to watch. Please be on the look out for Norma Shearer in a bug costume! Hilarious. Also, I'm okay with the wig in Idiot's Delight, it's the fake Garbo accent that irks me!
ReplyDeleteJohn - Have you seen He Who Gets Slapped (1924)? TCM occassionally shows it. It's a goodie.
Thanks Lolita!
Mercurie - I love Student Prince, one of my all time faves. The new look is only temporary in prep for NS week. :-)
Jonas - Miss Lotta Miles went a long way from Montreal to Hollywood, eh?
Sarah - Please let me know if you watch any of her films! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Casey - In my opinion, the #1 reason to watch Idiot's Delight is Clark Gable's Puttin' on the Ritz number.
Can I use your post as an excuse to give my boss why I should be out that week?
ReplyDeleteCarrie - ha ha, as long as there is no risk of you getting fired, than by all means go ahead!
ReplyDeleteHi Raquelle--
ReplyDeleteI love that movie, & taped it off TCM some time ago. Must admit I wasn't real taken with the score they used, but the film itself is tremendous-- huge, huge Lon Chaney Sr fan.
"In my opinion, the #1 reason to watch Idiot's Delight is Clark Gable's Puttin' on the Ritz number."
ReplyDeleteYes!!!! I actually have the YouTube clip of that scene saved on my computer, so that I can embed it in my post when I do a Clark Gable painting :)
