I have a special Casablanca post coming up so stay tuned!
- Fire and Music ~ I'm the only cause I'm interested in... - Great post about the significance of Casablanca.
- Noir Girl ~ The Floating Head Syndrome - Noir Girl dissects the use of Floating heads and compares two very different Casablanca posters.
- Movie Viewing Girl ~ On love in Casablanca - Wendy explores love between the characters in the film and the significance and ambiguity of love in the plot of the film.
- Classic Forever ~ The Lesser Loved That I Love More: Rick Blaine vs. Victor Laszlo - In a battle between these two male characters, Laszlo beats out Blaine with his accent.
- Only the Cinema ~ Casablanca - Ed's review of the film. He discusses the importance of the film and how different elements come together to make this the ultimate classic.
- Film Forager ~ Casablanca (1942) - Alex saw it at the Brattle! Yay!
Wow, I'm surprised this is all we have, too! Thank you so much for linking my Floating Heads post! And I'm very happy to see Caitlin's amazing Casablanca post here. I learned so much about it from her one post. Can't wait to see your post!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for that roundup, Raquelle! I am still surprised at how there are so few posts on Casablanca out there!
ReplyDeleteI wrote about Casablanca a while ago: here's my review if you'd like to add it to your list.
ReplyDeleteI think my intro gets at the reason you don't see much writing about this film: it's such an established classic, such an unavoidable film, that it's hard to think of what can be said that hasn't been said already a million times over.
NoirGirl - It's Caitlin's post that got me to do this round-up. It's a great one! I was hoping there were more...
ReplyDeleteMercurie - As we discussed on Twitter, it seems like most of the favorites are ignored!
Ed - I see what you mean but I think a classic like Casablanca gives us opportunities to look at it at different angles. Or to talk about it in different ways because it's so well-known. I'm surprised that more bloggers don't at least have a post on their own thoughts on the film. That in itself is unique to each person. I added your link. Thank you so much!
Wow, thank you SO much for including my post!! That means a lot!
ReplyDeleteNice spotlight! I wrote about Casablanca awhile ago when I watched it at home after missing the Valentine's Day screening at the Brattle. Nothing special about the post, just letting you know that there's at least one more person who wrote about it!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your "special Casablanca post"!
I'm surprised as well that there are so few Casablanca posts, but Ed is probably right; I'm sure a lot of people feel, as I did before I wrote mine, that there's just nothing left to say on the topic. Hopefully your round-up will inspire others to prove that theory wrong.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind words about my post! I'm honored to see you say that it gave you such a great idea.
I agree- I'm actually working on a history of Casablanca with a play by play. Send me your link to your post if you finish soon and I'll link it to mine--a network for Casablanca--- LOVE IT! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these links. I've been surfing for something new to tweet on Casablanca for tonight's TCM 6PM ET showing--the definitive classic movie for me. I found you through one of my fave followers KateGabrielle. I'd love it if you'd send your Casablanca post.
