2013 Summer Reading Classic Film Book Challenge ~ Share Your Reading List

Did you sign up for my 2013 Summer Reading Classic Film Book Challenge? There is still time to sign up to participate! The deadline is July 15th to sign up for the challenge. All you have to do is fill out my form and review up to 6 classic film books on your blog or Goodreads profile.

For those of you participating, what six books do you plan to read? Even if you don't want to read six books by the September 15th deadline, just share which six classic film books are on your to-be-read list. You can share your list by creating a blog post or a Goodreads bookshelf. Send me your link via email or in the comment section below and I'll link to it on this post.

    1. Paulie - Ha! I guess my dislike of Ava Gardner has spread far and wide. But it makes me the bigger person to want to learn more about her right? Maybe this books will make me like her! I think the Welles book will be a hoot. I'm so tempted to start it right now but I want to wait until I'm finished with A Song in the Dark. Oh by the way, I want to read one of Kirk Douglas' books and you had recommended one to me some time ago. Which one was it?

    2. "Ragman's Son" is his first, its his auto bio. a GREAT book! i cant imagine anyone not liking it

I dont know if reading about Ava will make you like her or just dislike her even more. i read her auto bio several years ago but i wont say anything more until i read your review. i wanna see what you come away with after "getting to know her better" :)

i havent posted about this on my blog yet but the Capra book is a done deal and now i have started Chuck Hestons auto bio, which he has already won me over in the first 5 pages with his style and humor! i need too pick the other 4, not sure, really hemming and hawing, god sakes i have way too many here to choose from lol! thanks for kicking my ass to get reading again :D

  2. Cool! I'm currently reading TEMPEST IN A FLAT HAT about Buster Keaton, and it's short and very interesting, if anyone is looking for a book to add to their list.

  4. I'm kinda taking it by ear, actually. I've already written about 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' and I think I may also read 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' simply because I already own those books. I also hope to read that book on movie marriages, 'I Do and I Don't' - which I first read about here! Beyond that I don't know.

    1. Rich - That's really a wonderful way to read. To just pick up what you want and not necessarily make a plan or a list. I saw your post about For Whom the Bell Tolls! And thanks for reading my review on I Do and I Don't. Basinger really is a wealth of information and I enjoyed reading that one.

  6. I'm assuming that you have already read Bogdanovich's book-length interview with Welles if you are going to read Jaglom's junk. If not that is the Welles book to read.

    1. Drew? - I have not read Bogdanovich's interview but I'll definitely look into it. The only Orson Welles related book I've read was about the Making of Citizen Kane. This book of Jaglom-Welles interviews looks very interesting and it has been getting a lot of great reviews. Although I love to hear the other side of the story and would like to know why you think its junk.

Leave me a comment! If it is a long one, make sure you save a draft of it elsewhere just in case Google gobbles it up and spits it out.
