Early Birthday Present
Carlos presented me with a copy of the out of print Norma Shearer biography by Gavin Lambert as an early birthday gift. When I say "presented", I mean hid it in my apartment and made me go on a wild goose chase to find it! I'm so happy to have this. Now I don't have to check it out several times a year from my local library because I OWN it.
Thank you Carlos!

Aww, that is marvellous! What a lovely present. I actually own two copies of that book, one I keep at school and the other one at home! I do love it so, it's fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great book! Happy early birthday!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful biography. Much, much better than the other one I own and cannot find just now. I do believe they are the only two Norma Shearer biographies ever written.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame! Audrey Hepburn, my all-time favorite star, has about two dozen (and I own them all, of course) but let's face it, outside of her movies Audrey led a normal, almost secluded life- if the life of a superstar can ever be normal! Norma was the First Lady of MGM, which meant queen of Hollywood, during the golden age of the '30s. Norma's life anything but normal.
Congrats on the book! (and happy late birthday).
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of this great book and can you believe I got in at a library book sale? (for $2!!).
People don't know treasures when they have them.
