The famous scene from The Night of the Hunter (1955) in which Robert Mitchum's character Harry Powell tells the story of Love versus Hate (Good versus Evil) using the tattoos on his knuckles and by dueling with his fists. This scene has become iconic in film history and is referenced in Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing (1989).

Night of the Hunter is my favourite Robert Mitchum of all time, even more than Holiday Affair (which I love dearly). He gave such an amazing performance in that movie!
ReplyDeleteA great (& scary) film, with so many memorable scenes. I've enjoyed your Mitchum series--I don't know his work as well as I should, but I am familiar with "Night of the Hunter."
ReplyDeleteI've only seen this movie once, but Robert's performance really got me! It's a creepy, but fantastic one.
ReplyDeleteA true classic, and this is one of the great scenes! Amazing performance by Mitchum. Thanks.
