Questionnaire ~ Movie Awareness

I took Shelf Awareness' regular questionnaire that they ask authors and made it relevant to movies. See my responses below. Feel free to comment back with your own responses to these questions! I'd love to here what other people have to say!

Last movie you saw:

Do Not Disturb (1965) with Doris Day. Bleh. The only funny part was when one of the executives fed a male waiter a banana instead of one of his lovely secretaries.

Favorite movie when you were a child:

Little Mermaid (1989). There was no way I wouldn't cry when I watched it.

Your top five movies:

Out of the Past (1947), Pillow Talk (1959), You've Got Mail (1998), Emma (1996) and The Women (1939).

Movie you've faked watching:

The Graduate (1967). I know enough about it, and have seen the most famous scenes. Do I really need to watch it? Besides. After watching the horrible movie Rumor Has It... (2005), I'm kind of over it all.

Movie you are an evangelist for:

I'm an evangelist for several types of movies, but not one in particular. I love encouraging people to watch pre-codes, '60s sex comedies, scandalous '50s movies, Robert Mitchum films, Bobby Darin films, Blonde-Bette Davis films and Norma Shearer films.

Movie you've watched for no apparent reason:

Fat Girl/A Ma Souer (2001). I still don't know why. And the last scene I think scarred me for life. No I take that back. The whole movie scarred me for life.

Movie that changed your life:

You've Got Mail (1998). Put me in the book industry.

Favorite line from a movie:

Quel Nightmare! - You've Got Mail (1998)

Movie you most want to re-watch:

D.O.A. (1950). Just because I think it's awesome.

Movie you most want to watch again for the first time:

Heavenly Creatures (1994) - So I can experience the shock and wonderment of my very first viewing.

  1. Oohh, questionnaire - I'll bite:

Last movie you saw: The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962) - for our "Sci-Fi Saturday Night"

Favorite movie when you were a child: Hmm, for the life of me, I can't remember one

Your top five movies: Ask me again tomorrow, it'll probably change! Mr. and Mr. Smith (1941), Another Language (1933), The Right Stuff (1983), The Lost Weekend (1945), It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

Movie you've faked watching: Can't think of one. If something sucks, I just refuse to watch it. Makes for real good times here at the house! /sarcasm

Movie you are an evangelist for: Anything Hitchcock. I have a lot of friends who aren't into classic films, or want to watch one, but you can always nudge them in that direction with a Hitchcock film.

Movie you've watched for no apparent reason: Jesus Christ Vampire Killer (2001)

Movie that changed your life: Two: Suspicion (1941) - got me into classic film. H.M. Pulham, Esq. (1941) - you think about things a little differently after watching it. Wish it were on DVD.

Favorite line from a movie: At the moment, "I'm your Huckleberry," Tombstone (1993)

Movie you most want to re-watch: Almost anything Robert Montgomery

Movie you most want to watch again for the first time: When I read the question, the first movie that popped into my mind was The Best Years of Our Lives (1946). What's odd - I can't explain why!

  4. Here goes:

Last movie you saw: "The Barretts of Wimpole Street," -wasn't sure how I'd like Norma in a historical drama; I love her so much in the independent, modern woman roles she plays, but I really enjoyed her performance--she's just such an incredible actress!

Favorite movie when you were a child: Gone With the Wind: watched it for the first time when I was about 7; this is the movie that started my love of the classics.

Your top five movies: Today they are: A Free Soul ('31), The Divorcee ('30); All About Eve ('50); Dancing Lady ('33-Joan C. in the early '30s is amazing); and lastly, "Talk of the Town" (('42-Jean Arthur was a doll)

Movie you've faked watching: Dr. Zchivago (I'm sorry any Dr. Z fans--I just can't stay awake!)

Movie you are an evangelist for: Pre-code films, and I also think everyone should see Gone with the Wind once.

Movie you've watched for no apparent reason: Can't think of any; I'm a bit of a brat when it comes to movies, there are so many I want to see that I have to really want to watch a movie to devote two of my hours to it.

Movie that changed your life: Three on a Match--I didn't know a thing about pre-codes before watching this movie, now I'm an addict!

Favorite line from a movie: "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride." -Bette D. in All about Eve

"I'd kiss ya, but I just washed my hair." -Bette D. in Cabin in the Cotton

"He looks as if he knows what I look like without my shimmy." Scarlett in GWTW

Movie you most want to re-watch: The Divorcee

Movie you most want to watch again for the first time: Three on a Match--it was such a nice surprise!

    -Bonnie:)

Leave me a comment! If it is a long one, make sure you save a draft of it elsewhere just in case Google gobbles it up and spits it out.
